Dree Hemingway desperate to drive
Dree Hemingway would find being a Formula 1 driver "insane".
The 27-year-old model walked her first ever show in Paris, for Givenchy's Autumn/Winter 09 collection, and is now a recognised name in the industry, landing campaigns for the likes of Gucci and H&M.
But if her fashion career hadn't soared like it did, Dree knows exactly what she would have done instead.
"I love driving. My dad tried to sign me up to Formula 1 but it just didn't happen. Unfortunately. There's still time though. I would love to. It'd be insane, I've done go karts though," she gushed to vogue.co.uk. "My dad used to have a really fast car growing up that when he would go out of town I'd take out, but he'd know it was me because I was too stupid to put his seat back into position."
Her passion for fast cars was fuelled when she starred in the A/W 15 Mercedes-Benz fashion campaign with drivers Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg. In a clip shot by Collier Schorr, both men are dressed to the nines in suits before changing into their overalls to race, with Dree playing the starter in a little black dress.
It was an amazing experience for the brunette beauty, who joked she gave two-time champion Lewis tips on how to drive better.
This extreme shoot isn't a first though; Dree still remembers another one clearly.
"It's up there as one of them. I did a shoot once where I was on top of skyscrapers and I was hanging off them and no one was holding me," she recalled. "I oddly discovered there that I was afraid of heights and had vertigo. I was 100 floors up and my leg was dangling over, it was pretty extreme. I like to challenge myself. Never a boring moment."
