Donatella Versace unveils extravagant Dubai hotel
Donatella Versace has opened the doors to the new Palazzo Versace Hotel in Dubai.
The Italian fashion designer and current vice president of the Versace Group, officially opened the brand’s second hotel on Tuesday night (15Nov16).
For the unveiling, Donatella was joined by her local partner, Raza Jafar of property developer Enshaa and Versace’s new chief executive officer Jonathan Akeroyd, as well as a bevy of top models, including Alessandra Ambrosio, Helena Christensen and Natasha Poly.
"I am thrilled to attend the grand opening of Palazzo Versace Dubai," said Donatella in a statement. "I’m also excited to bring our couture collection to Dubai for the first time ever. The United Arab Emirates is a very important market for Versace, and we have many brand loyalists living there. We’re so happy to be able to bring the Versace experience to the Middle East."
Billed as "the most luxurious hotel in the Middle East", the five-star Palazzo Versace features 215 rooms. The decor embraces the brand’s signature glamour, and features gold ceilings, marble floors and columns. Palazzo Versace boasts swanky suites, eight Versace-themed restaurants, a world-class spa, spectacular pools and a club for children.
It is located in the heart of the city’s Culture Village, less than 15 minutes away from Dubai International Airport and the nearby Burj Khalifa.
Speaking on the sidelines of the event, Sheikh Tariq Bin Faisal Al Qassimi, Chairman of Enshaa Group said, "The official opening of the Palazzo Versace marks a new era in hospitality for Dubai…Without a doubt, the Palazzo Versace is a jewel in the crown of Dubai’s thriving, world-class market."
The Palazzo Versace Dubai is only the second Versace-themed hotel in the world, with the brand setting up its first hotel in Australia’s Gold Coast in 2000.
