Dior continues Guggenheim International Gala support
Dior is set to sponsor the Guggenheim International Gala for the third year running.
The fashion house, helmed by Raf Simons, is set to return to its regular post at the event in New York after previously collaborating with it in 2013 and 2014.
This year it's held on November 4 and 5 and will support the famous museum's ongoing operations, such as educational programmes and exhibitions.
Guests will enjoy a pre-party on the first night hosted by the Young Collectors Council. This is a leadership group comprised of individuals aged between 21 and 40, who are looking to understand contemporary art and culture better. The bash will draw in a younger crowd, with the likes of Canadian musician Grimes, real name Claire Boucher, performing.
On the second night a benefit dinner will be held to honour several artists. The late On Kawara, who passed away last July, is one of them, joining Monir Shahroudy Farmanfarmaian and Doris Salcedo. All three have strong links to the museum and have had their work shown there.
Dior is said to have given the Guggenheim International Gala (GIG) a fresh feel since its involvement. Along with recruiting big music acts to perform, the fashion house has also roped in some A-list guests.
Last year famous names including Marion Cotillard, A$AP Rocky and Nicola Peltz - all dressed in Dior - joined in the celebrations.
The xx took to the stage and designer Raf was thrilled to have watched their performance.
“This is the first time I’ve met The xx in person,” Raf smiled at the time. “I don’t get to too many concerts because of my stupid, busy schedule. But I’ve loved The xx’s music since the very beginning. They’re huge in Belgium, you know.”
