Desigual's vibrant NYFW show

Desigual left a bold and bright impression on New York Fashion Week yesterday.

The Spanish fashion house was among the first to show its Spring/Summer 16 collection in the Big Apple and made a splash on the runway with its colourful designs.

Models hit the catwalk in quirky clothes and headpieces, with one showing a pastel-lemon overcoat layered on top of a monochrome bralette and finished off with a blue-and-grey checked skirt. On her head she wore a fan-like headband, accessorising further with a septum piercing.

Another wore her hair in braids and a clashing Aztec dress in all colours of the rainbow. She also sported a septum ring and a cross-body bag.

Layering was key for the brand, putting mesh tops over bikinis and thin vests over T-shirt dresses. The overall impression was youthful and eclectic, a fun start to NYFW.

A-list guests sat front row, with Karolina Kurková and Iris Apfel among them.

"No one knows how to accessorize like @IrisApfel! #FashionIcon #FashionWeekNYC2015 @desigual (sic)," Karolina praised the style icon on Twitter.

Orange Is the New Black's Laverne Cox also enjoyed she show, using Instagram to post: "Had a blast at the @Desigual fashion show #DesigualNYFW (sic)."

Nicholas K, BCBG Max Azria and Ohne Titel were also among the big names showing yesterday.

Shows continue today with the likes of Jason Wu, Charlotte Ronson and Cushnie et Ochs.
