Chiara Ferragni: Big brands require a big team

Fashion designer and blogger Chiara Ferragni credits her large team for helping her think big.

The Italian star has several strings to her bow; a successful online blog, a shoe collection and a modelling career that includes posing for the likes of Guess. With so many areas to concentrate on, Chiara relies on her entourage to help her handle every task with ease, and every person in her pack has a purpose.

“I travel a lot,” she told FASHION magazine after having changed time zones five times in the past few months. "We have a big team of 18 people, and we have up to 20 or 30 contracts going on at once. I think you should always have a big team behind you if you are a big brand because it makes you think big.”

Her brand was the focus of a study by Harvard University recently, with the academic facility predicting her ventures would earn her an estimated $8 million in 2015 alone. Chiara is thinking bigger though, and quickly dismissed the number when FASHION brought it up.

“Oh, no,” she quipped. “It will be more than that. Maybe $12 million or $14 million? Maybe more. We are really busy.”

As the only fashion blogger to have ever made Forbes magazine's 30 Under 30 list, it wouldn't be a surprise if her prediction came true. Chiara draws inspiration from her Italian heritage and also looks up to big names in the fashion industry, such as Miuccia Prada. “It is a goal of mine to talk with her,” Chiara gushed. “When I do, I have a million questions.”

Chiara hopes that one day people will stop making the assumption that bloggers are "sell-outs", and that she and those like her work hard at their brands. When called a blogger, Chiara makes a point to list the other businesses to her name.
