Charlotte Dellal is all about old Hollywood
Charlotte Dellal’s life is filled with ‘40s glamour.
The shoe designer helms label Charlotte Olympia, a brand known for its towering heels and kitten-themed flats. She pours her own personality into her designs, and admits to loving the glamorous things in life.
“I enjoy dressing up, whether it’s a Monday morning or a Saturday evening,” she smiled to Britain's Hello! magazine. “I have my hair set into 1940s waves once a week and I put on red lipstick – that’s all you need. It makes you feel a bit glamorous if your hair is done, and that’s a kind of routine for me.
“It’s an aesthetic I like and one that I have transcended into the essence of my brand, old Hollywood glamour. And it’s not just aesthetically; it’s a part of me.”
Charlotte has recently branched out into other areas of design too, teaming up with Agent Provocateur to create stunning lingerie as well as adding handbags and accessories to her own label’s offerings.
For the Agent Provocateur campaign earlier this year (16), Julia Restoin Roitfeld modelled the seductive range, with the shots infused with old school glamour.
Charlotte isn’t the only Dellal to have made it big in the fashion world; her younger sister Alice is an in demand model, who has worked for the likes of Chanel, Pam Hogg and even Agent Provocateur. She of course works with Charlotte too.
“When you have a beautiful sister, it’s hard not to want to work with her,” Charlotte stated. “This was my first show at London Fashion Week (Feb16) so naturally I had to have my little sister in it. It’s wonderful working with my sister. She has always been my model, so to speak, for my campaign shoots as well.”
