Carolina Herrera celebrates 35 years in fashion

Carolina Herrera has celebrated 35 years in fashion by throwing a star-studded party.

The Venezuelan-born designer began her career working as a publicist for Emilio Pucci, before starting her eponymous line in 1981 following a comment from her friend Diana Vreeland, then Editor-in-Chief of Vogue magazine.

In the last three and a half decades Herrera has established herself as one of the world’s most sought after designers, and has dressed everyone from First Lady Michelle Obama to Olivia Munn.

She’s also synonymous with wedding dresses, and designed the bridal gowns for Renee Zellweger when she married he now ex-husband Kenny Chesney and Jessica Simpson's wedding to Eric Johnson.

To celebrate her fashion milestone, a party was thrown in Herrera’s honour in Madrid. Model Karlie Kloss was at the event, and even took to the DJ decks to spin some tunes.

”A blowout in #Madrid celebrating #CarolinaHerrera #35YearsofFashion with #GoodGirl @karliekloss,” the Carolina Herrera Instagram account captioned a shot of Kloss holding a birthday cake.

Karlie uploaded her own snap, showing off her DJ skills and writing: "Celebrating @HouseOfHerrera's #35YearsOfFashion in my home away from home,” with a heart emoji.

To further celebrate her time in the industry, the 77-year-old designer has also recently brought out a book. The tome, titled Carolina Herrera: 35 Years of Fashion, features images spanning her entire career.

“I love my book. Some dresses I forgot I had. Fashion changes all the time, and that's the way it should be. Social media has put fashion all over the world,” she said at Saturday’s (12Nov16) book launch reports Mail Online.
