Blugirl goes Western for Spring/Summer '17

Milan Fashion Week has kicked off with shows from Blugirl and Grinko.

Bringing the Spring/Summer 2017 presentations to the Italian city on Wednesday morning (21Sep16), the runways were awash with lightweight designs perfect for the warmer weather.

Blugirl dressed its army of models in flirty summer designs, adding a stylish edge with Pharrell Williams-esque mountain hats.

The headgear added to the Western feel of the new collection, with clothes reminiscent of a bygone American era. One model stunned in a pretty off-the-shoulder white lace dress, teamed with black leggings and huge tassel earrings. Another wore a ruffled pink shoulder-baring top teamed with a tasselled skirt.

As well as plenty of white lace, monochrome stripes also dotted the collection, appearing in both tailored jacket and trouser looks. Brightly striped patterns were another look seen on multiple garments.

The colour palette of pinks, oranges, blacks and whites worked well alongside each other, as did the mix of materials used.

Hair stylist Gianluigi Gargaro created high topknot looks, while make-up artist Michele Magnani kept the cosmetics pared back and natural with MAC products.

Meanwhile, Grinko went bold for its S/S '17 offerings, pairing together puffed up sleeves with micro hemlines and sports luxe vibes.

Both men and women walked the runway, wearing shiny space-inspired pieces in colours including violet, pink grey and blue.

Ruched shoulder detailing was the stand out look from the show. Sheer materials showing off the models' skin was also replicated in many of the designs.

Milan Fashion Week continues with Gucci, Alberta Ferretti and Roberto Cavalli showing later on Wednesday.
