Binx Walton: Designing was a dream

Binx Walton: Designing was a dream

Binx Walton's Superga collaboration is inspired by shoes she used to love.

The American model is making waves in the fashion world after fronting campaigns for Céline and Alexander Wang. She also took the catwalks by storm during the recent bout of Fashion Week shows, walking in Paris, Milan and New York.

On top of her modelling duties, Binx has teamed up with trainer brand Superga for her own line.

"My designs are influenced by shoes I owned and loved. It was like being able to make shoes exactly how I wanted. Perfect!" she smiled to British magazine Stylist.

Binx, real name Leona Walton, hails from Tennessee and got her nickname after her brother told her she looked like Jar Jar Binks from Star Wars.

It's not just her name that stands out, but her look too. Sporting an undercut hairstyle, Binx suggests shorter locks are much easier to deal with.

On the subject of her style, the 19-year-old favours a low-key look.

"I like things simple – jeans from Acne, because they have a good fit, and a T-shirt. On the catwalk, Proenza Schouler and Alexander Wang suit me best," she noted.

"I really like the jackets by high-end streetwear brand Hyein Seo [an up-and-coming Korean designer worn by Rihanna]. They’re pretty cool."

Her job means she gets to travel all around the world, but the American model likes being in European cities the most.

"Amsterdam has a really nice energy and is so beautiful. But London feels like a home from home. If you’re lost, people help you out and everyone is nice," she explained.
