Ben Gorham's foray into bags was spurred on by his leather obsession.

Ben is best known as the man behind Swedish fragrance brand Byredo, and despite having no formal training in the world of scent, he's now one of the most well regarded in the industry.

However, he has recently turned his attention to leather goods. Most of the designs are unisex satchels, with price tags ranging from $1,320 to $4,250.

“Like fragrance was for me, this started as an obsession. Leather was just something I loved. This store will be the first time all of these products are under one roof," Ben explained to New York Post.

To coincide with the new venture, Ben's first standalone store in America will be opening up later this month. The New York shop will house his perfumes, candles, bath and body products, as well as the bags.

Sunglasses will also be hitting shelves, with Ben teaming up with eyewear label Oliver Peoples. A new limited edition fragrance will be on sale too, and a bespoke fragrance service is currently in the pipeline.

“The scent captures the idea of the California hippie girl and has these woody accords. When you talk about New York women and men, there is a kind of confidence that even rivals Paris.

“The leather and fragrance are really simple, and it is really about being confident in order to wear something so simple. It has kind of a New York spirit to it," Ben smiled.
