Band of Outsiders back for 2017

Band of Outsiders is making a comeback for Spring 2017.

The label ran into financial problems earlier this year (15), with designer and founder Scott Sternberg confirming he was departing in June (15). The fashion house was snapped up by Luxembourg-based holding company CLCC SA, which has now confirmed it will be re-launching with items for both men and women.

"We have recruited a collective of ambitious, highly skilled fashion designers as well as merchandisers, graphic designers and key support staff to launch Band of Outsiders for the spring 2017 season,” Antony Verbaeys, CLCC’s managing director, told WWD. “It is our aim to have our collections present in the best international boutiques, but with a strong anchor in Los Angeles for which we are exploring opportunities."

Few other details have been confirmed, and it is said to be highly unlikely that the company will confirm who the designers working on the new brand are. It is known that items from the new-look label will first be glimpsed in September 2016 though.

Sources told WWD that designers have been creating from both Europe and Los Angeles, and the finished articles will be "new (and) exciting".

Sternberg is not thought to have any involvement in the project, with CLCC admitting he hasn't had any input "for the moment". WWD writers spoke to the designer, who didn't want to comment on the label in any way.

Sternberg used Instagram to confirm he was parting ways with the label he founded in June (15), following weeks of speculation about the future of the label.

"The proverbial Fat Lady sings, at least for me and my time here at Band of Outsiders… the store should be open for at least another week so, like, go buy something cute," he wrote. "And enjoy it. That was the whole point of this thing after all."
