Balenciaga to debut menswear
Balenciaga is set to launch menswear.
The Spanish-founded fashion house went through a major change in 2015, when Alexander Wang departed the brand after three years at the helm. He took over from Nicolas Ghesquiere in 2012, when the French designer started at Louis Vuitton.
Demna Gvasalia replaced Wang as creative director, and showing just how much he has to offer the luxury label, he’ll be debuting menswear for the first time this June (16).
“The show will debut the masculine vision of Balenciaga’s new artistic director Demna Gvasalia,” the company said in a statement.
It’s the first time the 97-year-old brand has dipped its toes into the men’s market.
Gvasalia, the founder of hot Parisian label Vetements, staged his first Balenciaga show during Paris Fashion Week in March (16). He is known for his gender fluid designs, and the Autumn/ Winter collection was full of androgynous looks and sleek tailoring.
Balenciaga menswear will show in June (16) as part of Paris Fashion Weeks men’s.
