Aquazzura's Edgardo Osorio's summery shoes
Edgardo Osorio wants his shoes to reflect the fun and happiness of holidays.
The designer creates footwear for Aquazzura and the brand has become famed for its bright, playful offerings. Giving fans a glimpse of the label's spring 17 collection to Footwear News, Edgardo explained the inspiration behind the line, which features a glamorous gold heel with straps around the ankle and pink gems.
“Whenever it comes to summer, I want collections that make you happy, make you want to go on holidays, have a cocktail or go dancing," he smiled. "This collection was inspired by my 30th birthday party. The mood is tribal and exotic.”
A photo of the star's birthday bash proves that the shoe was indeed inspired by the event, as gold candle sticks lined the tables along with big pink flowers.
Rupert Sanderson also shared a sketch of one of his upcoming shoes, a high yellow stiletto with multi-coloured ruffles down the front.
“Organza-tastic," he said of the design. "I was trying to build up a big ruff, based on organza and simple lines. We sourced the best materials we could in Italy and made it as dense and rich as possible.”
One person who has kept things more relaxed is Giuseppe Zanotti. One of his new designs features pale tones and is set to appeal to a certain type of woman.
“The spring collection is inspired by a romantic woman who loves soft fabrics and pastel colours," he noted.
Both Nicholas Kirkwood and Giuseppe Santoni were inspired by locations when working on their new ranges, with the former drawing upon a trip to the desert in Arizona for his tie-up heel, while the latter took the bold colours of spices seen in the Moroccan cities of Casablanca and Marrakesh and injected them into his wedges.
