Aline Weber's Tom Ford movie casting was a breeze
Aline Weber’s stunning looks ensured she didn’t need to audition for Tom Ford’s A Single Man before landing a part.
The Brazilian model made her debut in fashion at New York Fashion Week in 2006, and has now worked with everyone from Marc Jacobs to Moschino, both on the catwalk and fronting campaigns.
When it came to the casting of designer Tom’s 2009 film debut, Aline landed a stylish cameo purely based on her stunning features, after a casting director came across her head shot.
“It all happened so fast, I didn’t do a screen test,” she told Maxim. “I went right to a trailer to get hair and make-up. I met Tom Ford on set. He cast me based only on my looks.”
For the accompanying photoshoot, 27-year-old Aline poses in a number of provocative stills, including a latex red underwear set which is accessorised jewelled cowboy boots, a string vest and a completely nude photo lying on a sofa wearing towering white heels.
One of the model’s standout features is her tumbling blonde hair, something she credits her whole career with. After bleaching her hair on someone’s suggestion, Aline was picked to walk the Balenciaga Winter 2008 show.
“That was my ‘boom.’ After that, everything changed,” she recalled.
Since then she’s won beauty contracts, which she says earn her the best money, ad campaigns, and editorial work which is “not great for money, but good for travel”.
New faces join the industry all the time though, but Aline knows how to keep the pressure at bay.
“The competition could get to you, I suppose, so you have to think of modelling as a job, and then just leave it at the end of a shoot,” she shrugged.
