Alexander Wang to collaborate with The Weeknd
Alexander Wang is teaming up with singer The Weeknd for a new capsule collection.
The stars have spent a lot of time together over the past year and previously teamed up in April (15), when the musician was put in charge of the label's Instagram account during music festival Coachella. While enjoying the iconic music event, The Weeknd dressed in pieces from Alexander’s menswear collection, and now they have announced another joint project. The brand new capsule collection will be called WANGXO, a merging of ideas from Wang and The Weeknd’s XO brand of clothing and merchandise. Pieces will be inspired by outfits worn by The Weeknd on his current Madness arena tour, and are expected to include trousers with cargo pockets and T-shirts bearing zine-inspired graphics. Fashion fans can get their hands on the collection later this month (Nov15), when they go on sale in the label’s stores and also online.
The Weeknd is clearly a huge fan of the former creative director of Balenciaga. As well as taking over his label’s Instagram account, he also took part in Alexander’s 10th anniversary campaign with Do Something, one of the largest organisations supporting youth and social change. A T-shirt was designed in partnership with the organisation to raise money for their cause. The music star also chose the designer’s Spring 2016 show to take his romance with American model Bella Hadid public.
Alexander has rarely been out of the fashion headlines of late. In July (15) weeks of speculation came to an end when he confirmed he was parting ways with Balenciaga, with his Spring/Summer 16 presentation at Paris Fashion Week in September (15) his last.
