Alexander Wang selling Adidas capsule collaboration via 'Pop-truck'
Alexander Wang is retailing his new Adidas capsule collection via “Pop-truck”.
The New York-based designer chose to break the news of his partnership with the German sportswear giant after showing his Spring 2017 collection at New York Fashion Week on Saturday night (10Sep16).
The adidas Originals by Alexander Wang line will feature 84 pieces of unisex athleisure pieces and footwear, and is due to hit stores in spring next year (17).
Keen to offer fashionistas an idea of the line before the full launch, Wang has created a nine-piece capsule collection that includes a T-shirt, hoodie and three footwear styles, to drop this week (ends18Sep16), with the merch being sold via truck rather than at flagships, reports WWD.
On Sunday (11Sep16), trucks with the Wang x Adidas line hit a few locations in New York City, including in SoHo, Midtown and Williamsburg.
New Yorkers can find out the location of the pop-up truck by calling 917-325-3342 and checking in with @adidasOriginals and @AlexanderWangNY on Instagram and Snapchat. These trucks will make an appearance in London and Tokyo on 17 September (16).
Wang’s past collaborations have proven to be successful, most notably, his partnership with Swedish high street brand H&M in 2014, which drew enormous crowds at H&M stores in Europe and the United States.
Wang is also currently in the midst of a Pop-In Shop campaign with Nordstrom, which is selling limited edition pieces from his current collection, as well as specialty items.
The accompanying campaign for Wang x Adidas was shot by Juergen Teller and stars Rocco Ritchie, son of Madonna, as well as Hanne Gaby Odiele, Binx Walton, Lexi Boling, Luke Storey and Chris Fernandez.
