Alessandra Ambrosio inspired by '90s supermodels
Alessandra Ambrosio is determined to have the same longevity as top models like Kate Moss.
The Brazilian beauty enrolled in a modelling class aged 12 and has gone on to work for top brands like Gucci, Calvin Klein and Dolce & Gabbana. Now 35, Alessandra doesn't plan to slow down any time soon, following in the footsteps of superstars like Kate, Naomi Campbell and Cindy Crawford.
"Those top models from the '90s are an inspiration," she gushed to Britain's Cosmopolitan magazine. "They're super-strong and made the business different by having a long career. They've definitely opened doors for us.
"Even if I wasn't modelling and I was just designing, I'd still be travelling for the line and going to places I'd never been, like India and Nepal, remote places, just looking for inspiration."
Alessandra balances her busy work life with her family, looking after daughter Anja, seven, and four-year-old son Noah, who she has with fiance Jamie Mazur. It may not seem like an easy fete to achieve, balancing both areas, but the star believes she had kids at the ideal time, and with the perfect job to support.
"I was so happy," she recalled of becoming a mother. "I wanted to have kids at 20, so 26 was already old for me! I felt it was great timing and I took off a whole year. Victoria's Secret were fine with freezing my contract and going back later, so I wasn't worried about my career."
Alessandra and Jamie got engaged in 2008, but have yet to set a date on when they'll walk down the aisle. She admits her wedding isn't the top priority on her list, and that they feel comfortable enough in their relationship to wait until the moment is right.
