Adam Lippes teams with Target
Adam Lippes liked the challenge of designing for Target.
The American designer is the latest big name to collaborate with the US high street retailer, following on from the likes of Joseph Altuzarra and Peter Pilotto.
His pieces have a plaid theme running throughout and Adam loved creating for the masses.
“Really the process was, ‘How much can you challenge us?’ When you look at the finishing of the product, which to me is so much more important than what’s on the outside, they really finished it to a level that is quite incredible," he said in a statement. "All of the pockets in the coats are all hand chain-linked into the coats; it’s all piped.”
With everything from shearling bomber jackets to flats with grid patterning, Adam offers both indoor wear and outerwear. It's also reminiscent of his own Fall 14 collection with the inclusion of shirt dresses, but there's one particular garment he's extremely proud of.
“The mood of the Target collection is the same as I really convey in the main collection. It’s refined, elegant, and elevated pieces that a woman can have in a wardrobe and keep and take going forward," he added. “There’s a coat that we based off this beautiful mohair fabric we developed that’s a very soft pale gray and cream, but very overscaled. It’s fashion! But it’s really wearable fashion.”
Throughout the research and development process, the fashion star kept one aim in mind; to make whoever slips into his Target pieces smile. For him, that's the most important part of his job.
There are 50 items to choose from all together across menswear, womenswear, accessories and even home décor. Princes range between $1.50 to $129.99 and hits stores on September 27.
