Abercrombie & Fitch's nod to athleisure

Abercrombie & Fitch is jumping on the athleisure bandwagon.

Sports clothing is one of the biggest sellers in the fashion industry right now, with high-end brands such as Tom Ford and DKNY showing sports luxe pieces on the runway and celebrities including Kate Hudson starting their own lines.

And it won't be long until A&F fans can get their hands on the goods - the new collection will launch on the label's website and in stores tomorrow. Prices will range from $15 to $160.

The lower price bracket could be a sign the company is trying to keep up with cheap high-street alternatives like H&M.

"The collection is a nod to the brand's athletic heritage, featuring sporty items that can be dressed up or down including cropped fleece tops, structured leggings, tanks with mesh inserts and ribbed jersey dresses," a press release from the brand promises, according to Racked.

It's hardly a new direction for Abercrombie & Fitch, which has always prided itself in providing luxury leisurewear, but this marks the first time sporty items have been grouped into a specific collection.

Among the pieces is a ribbed grey jersey dress in a sleeveless design that goes to the knees. There's also a slouchy navy sweater and a white miniskirt that wouldn't look out of place on the tennis court.

Tailored tracksuit bottoms in grey with a white logo have a matching T-shirt with rolled-up sleeves and there are also tiny navy sports shorts.
