Tried & Tested: Valentine's Day beauty
Whether you've got a romantic date lined up or you're planning to hit the bars to find a special someone, there's no excuse not to get yourself dolled up this Valentine's Day (14Feb16). Here are some special products that will leave you looking and feeling fabulous for the lovey-dovey night.
MeMeMe Eye Inspire Quad Eye Palettes in Opulent Eyes - 4/5
With four shimmery shades on offer, including a gorgeous soft red colour and a pale purple, these shimmering eyeshadows are bound to catch your crush's eye. At first I wasn't sure about the red, but after using it once it's now my go-to shadow when I fancy adding a bit more depth to my look. I usually apply a light dusting of the colour, but because the coverage isn't at all heavy you don't have to worry about stepping out looking as though you've been crying.
Urban Decay Gwen Stefani Lipsticks - 4/5
If you know anything about No Doubt's Gwen you'll know she loves a bold lip. Her latest collection for Urban Decay is stuffed with bright reds, hot pinks and with a lovely nude tone - Ex Girlfriend, pictured - chucked in, all perfect for the romantic day. These lipsticks are lovely; smooth and soft to apply, with saturated colour which builds quickly. They need reapplying during the day but only a little, although the plastic packaging is a bit of a letdown.
MAC lipstick in Amorous - 4/5
If you're a bit over reds and bored of pinks, this in between shade could be the perfect choice. It's more subtle than some of the more vibrant Valentine's hues, but still gives a strong pop of colour on the lips. For best results trace lips with a natural coloured lip liner, then fill in rest of lips. This gives the lipstick real staying power. It's non drying and lasts for ages without needing a top up, but can fade after drinking. A real winner for subtle sexiness this V Day.
Kiko Endless Love Lipstick - 3/5
The main thing with this lipstick is the shape - it's perfect for Valentine's Day because it's heart shaped. Literally! The bullet is carved into a heart, meaning it's pretty to look at but probably not one for anyone fresh from a breakup. The colour applies smoothly, but it was a bit too sparkly for me. Probably better suited to someone a little younger.
