Tried & Tested: Hand soaps

If cleanliness is next to godliness, then hands are a great place to start. From commuting to typing, our hands typically bear the brunt of our day so it's a good idea to invest in a luxurious hand wash. We take a look at some of the best.

Molton Brown Delicious Rhubarb & Rose - 4/5

The smell of this hand wash stays on for hours (literally half the working day) so if you're not a fan of the sweet scent, this may be a problem. Luckily I loved the fragrance, which reminded me of rhubarb and custard sweets, and nearly made my mouth water. As well as the long lasting smell, the hand wash left my hands smooth with no dryness. A really nice addition to your bathroom.

Crabtree & Evelyn Pomegranate Argan & Grapeseed Conditioning Hand Wash - 4/5

Firstly; you need to really like pomegranate if you go for this soap because it's pretty pungent! As soon as you dispense it the scent wafts out, and it stays in the room for some time afterwards. A little goes a long way too, but what is great about this is how soft and moisturised it leaves your hands. Some soaps are very drying, particularly if your hands lack hydration anyway, but this left mine feeling as if I'd applied a hand cream.

Cowshed Mucky Cow Exfoliating Hand Wash - 5/5

This is the perfect treat for hands that need to be pampered. You probably already exfoliate your face and body, so why shouldn't all of you get the same treatment? The lavender smells fresh and promotes healing, while fennel soothes the skin. My hands felt super soft after using this. Follow it up with the restoring cream for gorgeous hands.

Aqua Manda Beauty Soap - 3/5

Everything about this soap screams retro, from the brown and orange packaging to the heavy smell that will take you way back to your grandmother's bathroom. It looks super cute and vintage but I personally found the scent a little overpowering. However, any 60s and 70s kids will love this blast from the past.

Bronnley Red Berry & Wild Blossom Soap Tin - 4/5

Soap isn't always the most fun thing to buy, but that's all set to change when you find out about Bronnley's luxury range. Beautifully packaged, this product makes the perfect gift and it smells gorgeous to boot. Using a bar of soap seems a little old fashioned when liquid ones are all the rage these days, but it's something I'll sacrifice for this softening soap. Also keep an eye out for the egg soaps - they'd make a lovely present for Easter.

Voya Clean Me Up Lime & Mandarin Hand Wash - 3.5/5

This organic soap means you can wash your hands guilt free, as all the cleansing and conditioning agents are naturally derived. Seaweed extract soothes irritated skin and also helps to prevent ageing thanks to antioxidants. This left my hands feeling very clean and refreshed and I love how multitasking and green it is, but I did find the smell a little clinical.

Lilou et Loic Luxury Hand Wash in White Cashmere - 4/5

No one could fault the packaging of this product; it's chic and gorgeous, with a white ribbon around the box and bottle. It would look amazing as a gift or just in any fashionista's bathroom. The smell is reminiscent of Palma Violets, which is what makes or breaks this hand wash. Some people love it, other people hate it. But with Lilou et Loic having a huge repertoire of scents, we're sure you'll find the one for you.
