Tried & Tested: Gorgeous beauty oils

Really good beauty oils should be light and non-greasy, have a gorgeous scent and leave your skin feeling supple and moisturised. But how can you be sure that your new purchase will deliver on all of the above? We've delved into the world of beauty oils to bring you our pick of the best.

Ole Henriksen Pure Truth Vitamin C Youth Activating Oil - 4/5

This has rosehip seed and vitamins A and C, so it's aimed at people who want to brighten and repair their skin. It's also supposed to help with fine lines and wrinkles, and while I didn't notice much in relation to that, the dullness which had been plaguing my face went. I like this oil a lot, but I knocked one point off because although it's billed as lightweight, it's actually pretty heavy. That was fine for my dry skin, but it might be too much for those who are oily or combination.

Original Source Skin Quench Watermelon & Jojoba Oil Spray - 5/5

If you're after a budget-friendly body oil, you're in the right place with Original Source. Formerly known for its shower gel, the company has branched out into a variety of moisturisers. Among them is this spray, which feels moisturising on the skin but sinks in fast. This means no greasiness - hooray! It also smells gorgeous without being sickly sweet. A brilliant all-rounder that offers great value for money.

Kiehl's Powerful Strength Line Reducing Concentrate - 4/5

This oil has just celebrated its ten-year anniversary with a special limited-edition version, which I was lucky enough to try. I don't have any deep wrinkles yet, but there are some lines on my forehead which I've noticed more recently. The oil has certainly made my skin in that area smoother/subtly firmer and after my mum, who's in her 50s, tried some too, I definitely noticed a difference in her deep-set wrinkles. A great alternative for those who want a smoother appearance without turning to Botox!

DHC Cleansing Oil - 5/5

This is a cult product, and totally lives up to its reputation. The bottle assures me it will dissolve make-up and dirt, and honestly it did. It was like the day's grime melted from my face. Skin was left soft and smooth after, and felt really deep-down clean. A little goes a long way, and weeks after using it, I've barely made much of a dent in the bottle. Definitely something to put in your shower.
