Tried & Tested: Blemish busters

Clear skin is something most women lust after but isn't easy when stress, pollution and hormones threaten a breakout at any given moment. Luckily the beauty industry is switched on to our needs and has produced some products to banish blemishes once and for all. We bring you our pick of the best.

Mineral Magic from JML - 4.5/5

If you suffer from blemishes or redness, this product is for you. It looks like a powder except for the fact it's speckled with coloured flecks. These actually correct and work with your skin tone, meaning it will adapt to your exact needs. It works well and doesn't look cakey, which is a huge bonus. It would be nice to see a version for black skintones and also a compact size, as the original is pretty bulky.

Pixi Glow Mud Cleanser – 4/5

This is not your average cleanser, it looks more like a face mask which is handy because it can also be used as one. It has five per cent glycolic acid in it, which helps exfoliate the skin and leaves it looking radiant. But it’s the mud which is particularly helpful for anyone looking to bust their blemishes, as it gives skin a deep clean and gets right into pores to clear them out too. You can either use as a cleanser and remove with a flannel or apply and leave like you would a mask. I found this great at removing grime and dirt, and it helped when I had the rumblings of some spots too. All in all a good buy, I’d recommend it.

bareMinerals Blemish Remedy - 5/5

This is the first powder foundation I've ever used, and it definitely won't be the last! Using a big blending brush to apply Blemish Remedy I'm left with a clean, even complexion afterwards without the cakey finish some liquid or mousse foundations can create. It's also a good product to build up depending on how much coverage you want. The results are better than I expected for such a lightweight consistency and it's great to wear on a night out as it won't sweat off like other foundations.
