Tried and tested: powders
From highlighter to full face coverage, most women’s beauty bags are filled with different powders – and rightly so! A powder can help you achieve anything from flawless skin to sculpted cheekbones, so we take a look of some of the best out there.
MAC - Mineralize Skinfinish in Lightscapade – 4/5
I’ve always been a liquid highlighter kind of gal, but that changed when I tried this little beauty from MAC. The solid powder block looks almost like art, with its twirls of golds, bronzes and even blues. It’s so delicate and fairy-like I actually want to Instagram it! I applied it liberally with a brush across my cheekbones and down the bridge of my nose for a subtle shimmer, which lasted for ages. If you’re after a really bold highlighted look then you may still want to reach for a creamier formula, but anyone wanting a more discreet shine, this is your product.
Jane Iredale Purepressed Base Mineral Foundation in Natural - 4/5
Jane Iredale’s PurePressed Base Mineral Foundation is a sheer pressed-powder made from micronized minerals. It also contains pomegranate extract as well as SPF 20, and has a more matte finish than many other powders, so oilier skin will be less likely to experience a heavy, caked look once applied.
The light formula offers a tidy application and I was impressed with the colour of the powder, which was a good match for my pale skin.
Max Factor Facefinity Compact in Ivory – 5/5
This is so much more than just a face powder; it covers blemishes to perfection and leaves skin looking flawless in a matter of seconds. The thick application sponge ensures even coverage that lasts for hours and hours, while the SPF15 is a great way to add a touch of protection from the sun. Furthermore it comes in a cute gold compact with a nice big mirror inside, and it’s the perfect size to pop into your pocket if not your bag. Like with all products it’s best to apply in a good light to check the powder is blended in properly, and then enjoy your gorgeous complexion!
