Tried and tested: natural lipsticks
Brown lipstick is having a bit of a comeback at the moment, thanks to stars like Kylie Jenner favouring the shade. However if you’re not ready to go fully brown with your pout, a natural shade still nails the trend without being too in your face. We look at what natural offerings are around right now.
Charlotte Tilbury K.I.S.S.I.N.G in Nude Kate - 4/5
This lipstick leaves a barely-there touch of colour, but gives my lips a gorgeous, silky finish. It also boasts built-in UV protection thanks to its mysterious 'Lipstick Tree' ingredient, meaning I can rely on it to prevent sun damage. I'm not a fan of shimmery lipsticks, so this one suits me down to a tee with its natural look. Big bonus - it doesn't wash out my fair complexion, which is a worry when it comes to nude lipsticks.
Color Studio Professional Pure Matt High-Intensity Lipstick in Crush - 3/5
Whether you love it or hate it, matte lipstick is having a moment. Color Studio Professional Cosmetics has fully embraced the trend, launching a range of neutral matte shades which are enriched with bamboo extract and shea butter. This paraben-free lipstick offers comfortable long-lasting wear, which didn't budge for over three hours when applied to exfoliated and moisturised lips. Though I greatly appreciated the staying power of the product, while the lipstick appeared to be a dark rose pigment in the tube, it actually took on a much lighter pink when applied to the lip.
Too Faced La Creme lipstick in Sugar Daddy – 4/5
This shade is the perfect hue for anyone wanting to dip their toes into the world of brown lipstick - I am officially in love with it, and have shunned all my pink products in favour of this new nude! The actual lipstick formula is amazing too; really moisturising while also looking ultra luxe. Staying power could be a better, especially after eating and drinking, but a little touch up never hurt anyone. Really impressive and the ideal new shade for spring.
