Tried and Tested: Festive scented products

'Tis very nearly the season to be jolly, which means Christmas parties, mulled wine and mince pies. But for 2015 we're also getting festive with our beauty products. We've rounded up six products to get you in the yuletide spirit.

Crabtree & Evelyn Sugar and Spice Hand Therapy - 4.5/5

I was dubious about this limited edition of Crabtree & Evelyn's famous Hand Therapy because I really don't like the overpowering smell of Christmas spices. Luckily my reservations were unfounded! The overwhelming smell is of sweet, almost citrusy scents, with a hint of spice that lingers after. The cream rubs in without leaving a greasy residue, and left my hands feeling nicely moisturised. For dry hands that are the victim of too much central heating, this will give a real hydration hit.

Josie Maran Be Comforted whipped argan oil body butter in Apple Crisp - 5/5

In my opinion, there is nothing not to love about this gorgeous body butter! It smells absolutely beautiful, a bit like a freshly baked apple and cinnamon pie. It's also extremely moisturising, sinking in to the skin quickly to leave it soft and supple. A little goes a long way, so one tub should see you through the whole winter. I'm now officially addicted and think everyone should add this to their Christmas wish list.

Christopher Courtney London Anti-Oxidant Chocolate Face Cream - 3/5

The black-and-gold packaging of this product is luxurious and would make this a decadent gift to find under your Christmas tree. While the rich cocoa smell is pleasant out of the tub, once on the skin it takes on a slightly strange aroma. It's also a little off putting to smooth something brown onto your skin. Having said that, I liked how quickly it sinks in and my skin felt moisturised after using it.

Gingerbread lip balms by Sally - 3/5

These lip balms make the cutest stocking filler - they look just like gingerbread men, getting you in the Christmas spirit instantly! While they have a nice vanilla scent, it would be even better if they smelled of ginger.

Jo Malone London Nutmeg & Ginger Bath Oil - 2.5/5

Jo Malone is famous for its unique perfumes, and I was hoping for the same impact with this bath oil. It was certainly silky and rich enough to leave my skin feeling soft, but sadly the scents just weren't there. Considering nutmeg and ginger are so potent, there was barely any fragrance to this product at all. It's a shame, as it could have made the perfect Christmas present, but it's completely missing the 'wow' factor.

Willow Gold, Frankincense & Myrrh Candle - 2/5

Well, you can't get much more Christmassy than those three scents can you? This candle has a real whiff about it when you open it; it smells just like the festive season. The scent does come through when you light it too, but it's a little overpowering. I'm not great with very strong smells - I don't wear heavy perfume for example - and this was too much for me. Strangely, once I blew the candle out, the scent seemed to evaporate within a few minutes.
