Tried and tested: Eyeshadows

When getting ready for a night out on the town, a simple slick of eyeshadow can be all that’s needed to transform yourself into the ultimate glamour puss. To make choosing which one to use easier we’ve rounded up some party-worthy shades and tried them on for you!

Makeup Obsession Eyeshadow in E133 Emerald Fizz – 3.5/5

Against my fair skin this deep, sparkling green shade really pops. I put on a very light layer to avoid looking too over the top and it was enough to really draw attention to my eyes, especially when paired with a natural lip. I ended up having to tidy up the finish slightly with a make-up wipe, as a few pigments ended up beneath my eyes and near my brow. While the application process wasn’t the neatest I liked the finished results, though note this is DEFINITELY an evening shade as it’s far too bold for daytime.

Clinique Chubby Stick Shadow Tint for Eyes in 09 Lavish Lilac - 4/5

Glossy purple eyelids have returned to the forefront, with models at recent Marc Jacobs and Nina Ricci shows sporting lacquered lilac eyeshadow. If you’re keen to try the reigning hue of the moment, Clinique’s Lavish Lilac eyeshadow is a great option as it has an on-trend creamy texture, but is very easy to apply. Simply swipe across the lid and build up layers until you reach the desired shade of purple. And as the formula has a little added shimmer, the eyeshadow transitions really well from day-to-night.

Illamasqua Demise Palette – 5/5

This new palette from Illamasqua is so fab, especially when you use all four shades together. There’s a black, burgundy, white gold and red gold eyeshadow, and each is highly pigmented. My personal favourite was using the white gold (Lost) with the red gold (Wilt) for a glamorous evening look, which perfectly treads the line between subtle and dramatic without ever being too OTT. A must for this coming party season.
