Tried and tested: Amp up the hair volume
Lank and lacklustre hair is no one’s idea of fun, so luckily for us ladies (and gents!) there are plenty of products out there that promise improved volume in the old hair department. We’ve tested a few to see how much they really do boost our locks.
KMS Add Volume Texture Crème - 4.5/5
A real sceptic of most volumising hair products, I was truly surprised by the body and volume KMS’ product provides. The brand claims that the formula will give your hair up to 80 per cent more volume, and I’d have to say that’s probably about right. For best results, pump once and emulsify in your hands before working through towel-dried hair and styling and blow-drying as required.
John Frieda 7 Day Volume Shampoo – 4.5/5
New from hair giant John Frieda, this is part of a whole range of hair volumising products. I used this with the conditioner, and while my mane didn’t turn into Eva Mendes’ over night, my hair did feel bigger and bouncier. This science in this product comes from making the inside of the hair, the cortex, act like thick hair, which essentially transforms the hair for a long lasting effect. Bravo scientists, great work!
Yes To Cucumbers Volumising Shampoo – 4/5
I love nothing more than a fresh scented shampoo and this product certainly hits the spot. It’s cooling on the scalp and leaves my hair feeling light, but thick, when it dries. Designed for normal to fine hair – a category I fall into – Yes To Cucumbers’ shampoo also has aloe vera as an ingredient, adding extra nourishment and shine. Paired with the conditioner it’s the perfect duo for the shower.
