Swap your make-up remover wipes for micellar water ones

We all know the benefits of a three step cleansing regime, but lots of us still reach for make-up remover wipes after a long day or night out, simply because they are quick and hassle free. While skincare experts have long bemoaned the negative effects of using wipes on skin, there are a host of new products containing the much-talked about ingredient of micellar water that seem to be more beneficial to the complexion. These tend to be more expensive than “regular” wipes, but are worth the extra cash if you have problem or sensitive skin.

One of the most popular products on the market is Bioderma’s Sensibio H20 Wipes. These are a perfect option for quick and efficient make-up removal, particularly if you suffer from sensitive skin. Each wipe is infused with micellar solution, which uses fatty acid esters, similar to the phospholipids of the skin cell membranes, to cleanse the skin – leaving the complexion squeaky clean and silky soft.

Another benefit of using micellar wipes is that more often than not, they are also suitable to use on the eyes. Clinique’s Take The Day Off Micellar Cleansing Wipes are the perfect example of this, and are saturated with micellar water to sweep off make-up easily and gently. They come in a pack of 50 and are the perfect size to pop in your bag to use while travelling or when leaving the gym.

Micellar wipes don’t always have to be expensive, but bear in mind that the price difference often reflects the amount of micellar water in the product, so cheaper options might just have a tiny bit in them while the more expensive ones count micellar water as their main ingredient.

Garnier’s Skin Naturals Micellar Extra-Gentle Cleansing Wipes are a popular choice, and are able to refresh and soothe the skin while also getting rid of any cosmetics, dirt and impurities. Or try Simple’s Micellar Face Wipes which are so effective they can even remove waterproof mascara without the need for harsh products on the very sensitive eye area.

Of course, despite these products, nothing is as good as using a proper cleanser as part of your regime, so it’s best just keep these wipes for use after a big night out rather than on a daily basis.
