Spring/ Summer 16 skin: raw refined
Having a gorgeous complexion is something most of us, if not all, spend our whole lives striving for. However forget layering on HD ready products and lots of foundation, as Spring/Summer 16 is all about skin that is raw refined.
“Timeless, elegant beauty that women really love,” commented MAC make-up maestro Terry Barber to Cover Media. “The difference this season is this idea of reality, doing a honey coloured tan, doing a contour, doing a highlight, doing an eyeliner… all set on this absolutely real skin. Doing supermodel make-up, but done on zero coverage. Uber femininity, showing and revealing skin.”
This outlook extends to tanning too. Wearing a fake glow looks great in winter to perk up grey skin, but in springtime it’s an absolute must. Legs need to be out, and nobody wants to see snowy pins! However, tanning this season has a more natural vibe to it, seen at Carven in Paris and Prabal Gurung in New York.
“There’s a lot of tan still but it feels like this very honey dipped, almost desert tan. Radiant with a shine. Sort of an intelligent take on tanning, an overall warmth. Using gold in highlight, rose gold, honey, peach. All of those things that imitate skin and bring out skin.”
Terry’s essentials to achieve this look include MAC’s Sunny Side Mineralize in Skinfinish and the brand’s Waterweight SPF 30 Foundation.
Other top picks to achieve the look are Urban Decay’s Naked Skin, bareMinerals Original SPF 15 Foundation and Clarins - Skin Illusion Natural Radiance Foundation.
Add some tan with Bobbi Browns Shimmer Brick or Charlotte Tilbury’s Bar of Gold highlighter.
