NYFW trends to try now
New York Fashion Week is done and dusted for another season, but unlike most years, a lot of the clothes on offer are available right now. Many designers have switched up their fashion schedules and got on board with the see now, buy now, movement, which makes clothes that are in keeping with the season the presentations show in. So no longer are the September shows full of Spring/Summer looks, but rather mix in Autumn/Winter fashion. That means that a lot of the make-up trends seen on the Big Apple runways can also be worn right now.
Lisa Dodds, the founder of new make-up brand NKDb, has given Cover Media the lowdown on what looks made the biggest splash, and how you can wear them this winter.
Dark berry lips
“Spotted on the DKNY catwalk, dark berry shades are the colours of SS17. Keeping the eye look simple stops the look being over-the-top and lets the lips do the talking,” Lisa shared.
To rock berry lips, first line your lips with a shade that matches your lipstick. This stops lipstick bleeding around the mouth. Lisa suggests using NKDb’s Lip Kohl Liner in Nutmeg with either Long Lasting Lipgloss in Venom or Lipstick in Blackberry. MAC’s Odyssey shade and Bourjois Rouge Edition in Pretty Prune are great alternatives to the trend.
Bold Sweep of Colour
“At Victoria Beckham, artists used a sweep of emerald and cobalt blue eyeshadows across the models’ eyelids for an almost accidental look. For a more subtle style at home, keep the shadow confined to the lid or go for a bold liner for a more wearable look,” Lisa advised.
NKDb has a great range of green and blue eye offerings, including the kohl pencils in Denim and Emerald, and eye shadows in Aztec and Caribbean. You can also dip into tropical shades at Barry M with its Dazzle Dust in Electric Blue or NYX’s shadow in Dank.
