Mirror, Mirror; who has the best metallic nails of them all?

Remember Gigi Hadid’s $2,000 mirrored manicure at this year’s Met Gala? The no-expense-spared nails were the brainchild of New York celebrity nail artist Mary Soul, who created the custom look using chrome and tiny crystals. Most of us can’t afford such pricey nail art, but thankfully, there’s a new crop of shiny polishes now on the market which are perfect for glamming up your nails. With a high-shine mirror effect, Born Pretty’s The Mirror Nail Polish is one of the top pinned items on Pinterest and is a favourite on Instagram, as it allows fans to get shiny, mirrored nails without shelling out a fortune. The silver shade is created in two steps: first, a base coat of clear polish, followed by a silver, reflective topcoat to create the mirrored effect. It appears a bit sheer after one coat, but two transforms it into a stunning shimmer. The beauty company also has a mirrored powder that magically gives your nails a glossy look in seconds. Simply rub it on top of your nails with an eye shadow applicator. Layla Cosmetics do a similar chrome mirrored nail polish if you can’t get your hands on Born Pretty’s popular version.

Though mirror nails are great for a night-out, they aren’t so great for the office. But there are some nice new metallic nail polishes to add some glitz to your outfit. Add an instant shot of metal to your look with OPI’s shimmering silver Turn on the Haute Light or play it cool with muted gold Glitzerland. If subtle shimmers and glistening glitters are your thing, Models Own Colour also offers a Chrome Nail Polish which comes in a range of pretty colours, including an on-trend rose gold and a chic mint green.
