Look to try: Chrissy Teigen’s golden waves

All eyes are on John Legend and Chrissy Teigen whenever the A-list couple hits the red carpet.

But at the recent 2017 Tony Awards, the model definitely outshone her beau by matching her white and gold Pamella Roland gown with a super chic wavy hairstyle which showcased her gold highlights.

To recreate Chrissy’s gorgeous blonde, Seniz Alkan, senior colour stylist at Neville Hair & Beauty, would suggest asking your hair colour expert to opt for a subtle bayalage or ombre technique.

“Chrissy Teigen’s Tony Award’s look is a perfect example of a natural ombre,” she told Cover Media. “Anybody looking to recreate this look should ask for caramel tones blended with blonde pieces. This will avoid too much of a brassy tone and give some texture to the colour.”

Ombre is a great way to lighten hair, as it is custom-blended for each person, and extra highlights can be added to frame the face. It also requires very little maintenance, as there is no dye applied to the root area and therefore no regrowth to deal with.

“The colour will naturally fade away as your hair grows longer,” added Seniz.

When it comes to emulating Chrissy’s on-trend waves, session stylist Stephen Low would first apply L'Oreal Professionnel’s Tecni.ART Pli evenly throughout the mid-lengths and ends of the hair and L’Oreal Tecni.Art Liss Control Gel Cream to give more hold and shine. Then he would proceed to blowdry the hair with a large round brush and using a large barrelled tong, in order create a wave through the ends of the hair.

“It is important not to create too much volume at the root to get the natural looking effect that Chrissy has. Use L'Oréal Professionnel Infinium Hairspray to give more hold to the finished look,” he shared.
