Incorporate Korean skincare steps into routine

It seems as if there’s always a new lotion or potion to add to our skincare regime. From serums to SPF, our morning routine is no longer a speedy operation - and neither is our evening one. So it makes us wince ever so slightly when reading about the 10-step Korean skincare routine. Who has that much time? Well the good news is we’ve identified the top four steps, and actually they’re not as lengthy as you might imagine.

Konjac sponges

These are natural and effective sponges to use with your facial cleanser. They cleanse, exfoliate, and detoxify you skin, meaning you’ll get much more out of cleansing than simply using a cotton pad. The Konjac Sponge Company has various offerings, all with a low price tag. The Bamboo Charcoal variety works well on teen, oily and spot prone skin, while the French Pink Clay sponge is suited to those with sensitive, tired and dehydrated skin.

Beauty essences

These feel watery like toner but have an entirely different purpose; they’re applied to add an extra layer of moisture to the skin. You use them after cleansing and toning and before serums. Kiehl’s Iris Extract Activating Treatment Essence activates radiance and reveals smoother skin, while SK-II Facial Treatment Essence has become a cult favourite among beauty lovers for it wrinkle-reducing properties. Japanese skincare brand DHC also have great essences, with both Resveratrol Essence (for smooth skin) and Beauty Lift Essence (for a firmer face) excellent additions to your bathroom cabinet.

Sheet masks

Rita Ora loves them, as does Demi Moore. And while you may look like horror character Michael Myers from the Halloween flicks, this ritual is surprisingly therapeutic. Sheet masks are soaked in effective ingredients and a single sheet delivers powerful moisture and active ingredients to the skin. They’re available in different versions according to skin type and needs. Timeless Truth has a really extensive range of masks, from detoxing to rejuvenation. Give one a try as you relax in front of your favourite TV show. Sheet masks also don’t need to be used every day, so indulge every now and again.

Facial mist

It sounds simple, but these are seriously multitasking; they refresh, hydrate, calm the skin and set make-up for an all day dewy glow. We love Ole Henriksen African Red Tea Face Mist for an instant uplift and Balance Me Skin Bright Hydrating Face Mist for its superior hydrating powers.
