Gleaming teeth from the comfort of your own home

Smiling has been proven to lift the mood, but doing it with yellowing gnashers is enough to make anyone feel blue. While whitening treatments at the dentist can be very expensive, there are a host of products on the market that can help you get a stunning smile all from the comfort of your own home.

You clean your teeth twice a day, minimum, so investing in a whitening toothpaste is a good port of call to start with. Most brands will have a whitening option, but names such as Blanx are popular for their ranges. Try their Intensive Stain Removal toothpaste for a non-abrasive, effective way to get your smile bright once again. Beverly Hills Formula Perfect White Black toothpaste is another good choice. Black toothpaste might seem like an odd way to whiten, but trust us, it works! Finish off your daily mouth hygiene regime by using LISTERINE Advanced White mouthwash. Used twice daily, it has been proven to help remove even the toughest of stains.

Light-based treatments

If you want something quick and easy to use, then go for one of the many light-based treatments on the market. Blanx White Shock formula is one of the most reasonable options, with their White Shock & Led treatment providing a paste and LED light which then intensifies the effect of their special ingredient called actilux. Current Body’s The L(A)B White System is more expensive but looks like something straight out of a dentist’s. It offers treatment times as short as just 20 minutes, and boasts that it’s able to get your teeth up to 11 shades brighter in just two days.

Keeping it natural

If you’d prefer not to use chemicals to whiten your teeth then why not go for the ancient Ayurvedic technique of oil pulling. Use a tablespoon of The Groovy Food Company’s Organic Extra Virgin Coconut Oil and swish it around your mouth for about 20 minutes to get whiter teeth and fresh smelling breath. Or UltraDEX have a new Recalcifying & Whitening Range which includes a toothpaste and oral rinse. The products contain hydroxyapatite, which is actually what teeth are made of, as well as stabilised chlorine dioxide and fluoride.

Ashish B Parmar of Smile Design by Ash told Cover Media: “This product is the best mouthwash for people with sensitive teeth, due to its unique formulation and it also provides a host of other clinical benefits.”

Or give iWhite’s Instant 2 whitening kit a go - clinically proven to be safe and hydrogen peroxide-free, the system provides an instant brightening effect after the first application, and can whiten teeth by up to eight shades whiter in just five days.
