Get the look: Melissa McCarthy

When Melissa McCarthy stepped out at the Los Angeles premiere of her new flick The Boss recently, it wasn’t just her slimmed down frame that got people talking. As well as showing off her figure in a cream blouse and skirt combo, the star also rocked tousled tresses and flawless make-up. Copy her look with these simple steps.

Melissa is never one to over apply the slap, preferring to keep it simple with a strong base and smooth skin. Apply a primer like Make Up For Ever’s Hydrating Primer then, once dry, top with the brand’s Ultra HD Foundation. This is a medium coverage product, so if you have any blemishes to hide it may not be the best choice. However its lightweight formula will give you the same result as Melissa’s healthy glow.

You won’t be able to get Melissa’s sparkling green eyes without the help of contacts, but framing your peepers like the comedy actress is easy. After coating lashes with mascara, grab a pair of Eylure’s Forever lashes from their new Enchanted range. These are lightweight, soft and will give eyes that lash fluttering effect seen on Melissa. Add kohl liner to the top and bottom water line to make your eyes really stand out.

Red is best here, especially against Melissa’s cream outfit. The berry take on pillar box red looks perfect, with MAC’s Ruby Woo and Rimmel’s Kate Moss lipstick in shade 22 similar choices. Line lips first with either a similar coloured lip pencil, or a neutral shade, then fill the entire lip in. Apply lipstick over the top. This will give lipstick a base, making it last for much longer.

Sexy beach waves were the order of the day for Melissa. Create your own curls with GHD’s Curve Soft Curl Tong or Nicky Clarke’s Diamond Shine Pro Salon Styling Wand. Keep sections fairly large, then comb through curls for a loose, sultry waves rather than pageant curls.
