Finish off your Christmas party outfit with perfect hair
Got your Christmas party dress? Many people splash out on gorgeous gowns months ahead of the festive season, but while outfits are at the forefront of plans, hair can often be an after thought. To achieve an impact with your Christmas look though, it’s all about the package as a whole – meaning you need to go all out with your hair and make-up too.
Curls are always a good option. If you have curly hair then lucky you! Just spritz on some product, add some glittery hair accessories (read below for our suggestions on those) and you’re good to go.
If you are blessed with naturally straight tresses then you’ll need a bit of a helping hand. Lee Stafford’s Original Chopstick Styler is a great product for getting a gorgeous, volumised and curly look this Christmas. Lee also recommended using My BiG FAT Retro seTTing LotioN to prep the locks before using the styler. “Simply tip your head upside down and give it a good blast with the hairdryer, concentrating on those roots,” he told Cover Media. “When the roots are dry, tip your head back up again and style accordingly. Once your hair is dry, use the Chopstick Styler to create wild corkscrew curls for a trend setting look. The ceramic coated barrel and high heat up temperature will leave you with a real show stopping look this Christmas!"
If you want to give your look an added extra, then try Kitsch’s range of simple yet stunning accessories perfect for the party season. Their Straight Bobby Pins include two silver, two gold and two rose gold – making them the perfect addition to any metallic look and providing an extra level of taming for curly locks.
For a curly look that doesn’t have a disco finish, use a wide barrelled curling tong for softer waver. Neil Barton, Goldwell Ambassador and Owner and Director of Neil Barton Hairdressing, Edinburgh, told Cover Media: “Vintage 1940s inspired rolls are timeless classics. This style looks best on ladies with mid to long length hair and with round or heart-shaped faces. Wear with a side parting and allow the hair to gently fall over one shoulder.” Add a slick of red lipstick to give your look even more of a festive finish!
If an updo is more your thing, then soft, romantic styles are the perfect choice for Christmas. Karen Thomson, Owner and Director of KAM Hair and Body Spa in Lossiemouth, Scotland, told Cover Media: “You can never go wrong with the classic up do, it’s perfect for all hair lengths and there are arrays of styles from buns, to chignons to beehives that you can go for.”
KMS California Global Style Council Member Sam Burnett had some tips for Cover Media on how to get this look at home, starting with the addition of KMS California AddVolumeStyling Foam before blow-drying. Once dry, Sam said: “Section the hair from ear to ear just in front of the crown and pull the rest of the hair into a low ponytail, securing with an elastic.
“Take the ponytail and twist it around itself to create a bun, securing with strong pins. Separate sections of hair from the front and braid, leaving the rest loose, and secure with pins.”
Finish your look off by adding some texture to the braids with KMS California Hairplay Dry Wax and some KMS California Hairplay Sea Salt Spray to the loose hair at the front for a romantically inspired finish.
But whatever look you go for, make sure you kick back and enjoy yourself – it is Christmas after all!
