Fight fatigued skin

Fight fatigued skin

It'll come as no surprise to most of us that our skin looks best when we wake up, then slowly deteriorates during the day. Who needs research to tell us we look tired after a tough day at the office? But actually the results of this particular survey might surprise you - on average, 1,800 American women who were quizzed said they look 5.4 years older at the end of the day. That's a pretty big leap, and it was compounded when more research found tired-looking skin is in the top five concerns of women in France, Japan and the US.

The issue is that skin repairs itself overnight, but during the day it has to battle to get rid of aggressors. That's tiring work and leaves no time for anything superficial either, which is why by the end of the day your skin might look dull and feel rougher.

All isn't lost though, as there are things you can do to fight the fatigue. What you need to do is give your skin the tools it needs to protect itself better, which could mean using products with anti-oxidants in them. Serums are the obvious choice and there are two new ones which were created with this in mind: Zelens Intense Defence and Alpha-H Vitamin C with Grape Seed. Both of these are packed with anti-oxidants which your body needs to help build strong and protected skin, use them for the long term and you'll benefit from plumper skin which should be smoother and have less pigmented issues.

Kiehl's have created a completely new kind of product to help with fatigued skin too. Its Daily Reviving Concentrate is a sort of sister product to the famous Midnight Recovery Concentrate and it's unique because it's an oil specially formulated for daytime use. Most people will only use oils at night, but this one isn't greasy or sticky and absorbs quickly so you can apply make-up as normal. The new product has a blend of essential and botanical oils which help boost the skin's defence system - testers claimed it helped with all the major signs of skin fatigue like fine lines, lack of radiance and glow and roughness.

You can also ramp up your cleansing routine by using Shu Uemura Anti/Oxi Skin Refining Cleansing Oil, which is formulated to tackle pollution on the skin. Adding in a bi-weekly mask will pep things up too and our recommendation is Antonia Burrell's Mask Supreme 7-in-1. Really this is the only mask you'll need as it's formulated to hydrate, smooth, detoxify, repair, clarify, illuminate, protect and perfect your skin.
