Pastel eyes are the perfect way to make a big statement with minimal effort this spring.
Fendi and Dior are fans of the trend, sending models down the runway with fabric liner applied to upper lash lines with make-up glue. Pretty pops of baby blue proved popular, while lilac and lemon yellow coated lids are also set to be big news.
The hues embrace the freshness of the new season, and best of all, it’s a super easy look to master.
“One of the biggest make up trends this season is the pastel eyeliner,” Lara Champion, make-up artist at Ken Picton Salon Cardiff, told Cover Media. “Dior showcased the Spring/Summer2015 look with shades of peach, lilac, yellow, mint and pale blue.”
Make-up artists for Fendi, Dior and Peter Som replaced their usual eyeliner with materials including leather, satin and even lipstick.
Lara has explained how to perfect this pop art palette using more traditional – and accessible methods. She recommends choosing a hue that enhances your skin tone and eye colour.
“A liquid or pencil formula can be used to define the eyes and create vivid flashes of colour close to the lash line top or bottom. For added drama winging it at the edges creates a whole new eye shape,” Lara advised. “This look requires minimum effort elsewhere on the face with natural being the focus for skin and lips skipping any bold shades, maybe using a soft pastel on pink or peach to complement.
“Pale purple looks amazing on green eyes and gives a great contrast in colour, equally a blue or mint green on brown eyes is a surprising eye opening look.”
For anyone who struggles with fiddly liquid liners, eye crayons also create an instant burst of pretty colour. Barry M, Urban Decay and Artistry all offer creamy crayons which are simple to apply and can be used in several ways.
“Spring 2015 is inspired by one of the world’s most naturally beautiful colour palettes,” Artistry Global Make-up Artist Rick DiCecca told Cover Media. “From breath-taking blue skies to gleaming desert sands, it gives women the freedom to create a look to match any mood. Eye crayons from our Indigo Skies Colour Collection double as shadows or liners to create versatile, mesmerising looks. My hope is that women will experiment and have fun.”
