Double cleanse your tresses
There’s been countless recommendations and advice in the world of beauty over the years when it comes to washing our hair. From avoiding shampoo entirely to using conditioner first, there seems to be a new craze every month, with the latest being the double cleanse – washing your hair twice.
“Why do that?” you may ask. Well, that’s what we’re here to tell you!
Of course the key to success is using two different products as your hair won’t feel the difference if you just use the same shampoo twice.
First note: this is a technique best for thick or curly hair that you can get away with washing less, as you don’t want to be double cleansing every day. By leaving your locks for longer you’ll truly benefit from a deep treatment when it comes to getting them wet.
Begin with using a cleansing or clarifying shampoo, like TIGI Bed Head Totally Beachin' Cleansing Jelly Shampoo or Moroccanoil Clarifying Shampoo, and rub into roots using your fingertips. This will remove any excess dirt, oil or build up hiding in your strands but won’t necessarily leaving your tresses feeling nourished, which is where the second product comes in.
Or you could opt for a hair oil for your first ‘clean’, as this will bring all the residue and unwanted grime to the surface of the hair for you to then rinse out. Apply to dry hair and leave for the recommended time on the product packaging, then let warm water run through to remove everything.
Then, to achieve ultra moisture and nourishment, get your hands on a conditioning or moisturising shampoo - we suggest The Body Shop Rainforest Moisture Shampoo or Shea Moisture Coconut Shampoo. You can give this a good rub in all over, right down to your ends to give a healthy finish (the further down your hair you go, the older the strands are).
The key to this approach is that you shouldn’t have to wash your hair as often – twice a week should be enough if double cleansing truly works for you.#uble cleanse your tresses.
