Dewy skin is where it's at this summer, and embracing a fresh face is still all the rage. Just like a messy 'I just woke up like this' hair style takes time to perfect, so does a naturally radiant face.
There's a fine line between soft dewy skin and looking oily and sweaty though, so make sure you don't go overboard when prepping your face. Dewy also does not equate to sparkly, so pick your highlighter carefully; nothing with gold specs will work for the look.
Before you start your base, make sure skin is well moisturised and hydrated. This will create the perfect canvas for a luminous look.
Next choose your highlighter. For oiler skins go for a powder highlighter worn over set make-up, but drier faces work better with cream highlighters before foundation. B. Sweet Popping Candy Highlighter is really nice mixed in with foundation, or put on straight on the skin. NARS' Highlighting Blush Powder in Albatross is a perfect powder choice. Sweep product along the bridge of your nose, and along cheekbones. Leave areas like the jaw line and the sides of your nose to avoid the dreaded grease.
Now on to face make-up. MAC's director of make-up artistry Terry Barber is a massive fan of the eggshell skin that swept the runways for SS15, as it's a look that lends itself to sunnier days.
"It's sexiness, texturising the raw face. The look is no longer block foundation," Terry told Cover Media. "Raw is now enhanced even at its most natural." bareMinerals Complexion Rescue Tinted Gel is ideal for those who ditch foundation during the summer, and as well as a naturally radiant coverage, it also packs a hydration punch which will keep skin looking fresh. It has an added SPF30 too.
If you're not ready to turn your back on foundation, try a lighter formula this season. Make Up For Ever has finally made its way out of America, bringing with it cult favourite HD Foundation. It's famous for its complete coverage, while maintaining an invisible look. Goodbye cakey looking faces! MAC Mineralize Moisture Foundation is another favourite when it comes to doing the dew, as it's light-reflecting finish makes skin look like its lit from within.
Set make-up with a spray, rather than powder and to get an instant hit of dewiness, try rubbing a little bit of moisturiser in your hands, then gently press it into cheeks.
But remember, if you're going for dewy skin, steer clear of shiny eyes and lips.
