If you thought placing two cool slices of cucumber on your eyes was the only way to beautify yourself with the vegetable, think again. The high water content food is popping up in everything from mascaras to perfume, adding a new dimension to your make-up. Check out how you too can be as cool as a cucumber.

It's great to include cucumber in your diet, as they're made up of 95 per cent water. This means it can cleanse your body and get rid of toxins. Cucumber is also packed full of antioxidant nutrients including vitamin C, beta-carotene, manganese and is high in vitamin K.

Using the raw vegetable in your beauty routine will also be beneficial, as it's a natural toner to help boost a dull and greasy complexion. It can also be used in a homemade facemask, mixing the juice with a few drops of lemon, pure sandalwood powder and earth powder (available at specialist health stores and websites). Apply evenly to face and neck, washing off after about 15 minutes to reveal glowing skin.
