Big, bouncy hair

Big, bouncy hair

Big, bouncy hair immediately fills us with confidence - let's face it, how sexy do you feel on a day when your hair just doesn't want to behave?

It's easy to get voluptuous locks with little effort, so we've spoken to experts to find out how.

Karine Jackson of Karine Jackson Hair & Beauty has a method which will see your tresses stay boosted for longer.

"My top trick for lasting volume is to spray in a bit of gel to damp roots, then really ruffle the roots with your fingers as you dry the hair. This ‘confuses’ the roots making the hair follicle stand up and giving great volume," she recommended to Cover Media. "Style into your desired shape, then whenever your hair feels a bit flat during the day give the roots another ruffle with your fingers; just like muscle memory, the roots will remember to stand up straight again, reawakening the volume."

There's plenty of options out there to use, such as Toni&Guy's Spray Gel or VO5 Mega Hold Gel Spray.

Hair tools are handy in this area too, as Kai Wan from Pkai Hair salon explains.

"I love to use crimpers to give fantastic big hair – clip the top section of hair out of the way and crimp the hair underneath, then smooth the top section back over the crimped hair and there you go – instant big hair!" he gushed.

Lots of brands offer crimpers/wavers, from Lee Stafford to Toni&Guy, but only one has created a gadget for volume and volume only.

BaByliss Big Hair Spinning Brush does what it says on the box - you hold the brush at your roots and as it spins your hair dry, it adds a whole new layer to your tresses which will see them stand up bold and beautiful. Though make sure your hair is already 80 per cent dry before taking the brush to it; use a hairdryer to get there quicker if you haven't got the time to let it naturally dry out.

Or take a leaf out of Dafydd Rhys of Ken Picton Salon's book and use hair dust or dry shampoo to keep your locks bouncy and big.
