Beauty experts' top make-up picks
We've all been there; you eye up a pricey product for weeks, finally decide to splash out and then find it doesn't live up to your expectations. There's nothing worse than getting excited about something you think will change the way you do your make-up, only for it to be a massive disappointment. That's why we've spoken to several top make-up artists to get some ideas on things to invest in to instantly update your cosmetics collections for Spring/Summer 15.
The Beauty Academy's Sharon Mayes proves you don't have to save for months to get an on-trend look, as one of her top tips is Maybelline's Master Graphic Liner. Bold lines around the eyes are a big look this season and the angled tip on this means you can get a fine or thick line depending on your preference.
Also making the grade for Sharon is Lancôme's Miracle Cushion Foundation, which offers a light tint so is perfect for the dewy foundation look most will want this season. Rounding out the make-up artist's top three is another Lancôme offering, the Grandiôse Mascara. It helps your lashes fan out and has a unique wand which can get right to the base, meaning the colour covers from root to tip.
Julia Carta is also a top make-up artist and she agrees with Sharon that fresh skin is one of this season's big looks.
"For me it has to be the HD Sheer Cover Studio™ Perfect Shade® Mineral Foundation it comes in multiple shades with a clever technology to match your perfect skin tone; seamlessly. It also contains Mica to give that youthful, dewy, skin and leaves a radiance, like your skin has been kissed with crushed diamonds," she said of her essential product.
She also suggested Scott Barnes Body Bling, which is a tinted moisturiser that leaves skin with a pretty glow. It's good for adding a subtle pop to brow bones, the nose, cupid's bow and collarbone.
Embryolisse Lait-Crème Concentré Nourishing Moisturiser is Julia's final suggestion and is sure to head straight to the top of your list if you're an A-list fan.
"Embryolisse is a staple in my bag and the make-up bags of celebrities, super models and make-up artists who love its skin perfecting, smoothing, plumping and softening benefits," she explained. "This multi-tasking, super-effective moisturiser is the perfect primer and is ideal for achieving the minimal make-up look. It's also a brilliant cleanser, post-shaver and anti-ageing treatment."
Make-up artist Maria Papadopoulou proved it's all about radiant skin for Spring/Summer 15 by suggesting Shu Uemura Stage Performer Instant Glow, completing her selections with Dr Lipp for a glossy sheen on eyes and mouth and a waterproof cream eyeshadow such as Make Up For Ever Aqua Cream in a bold shade also making the grade.
So there you go, our top ways on how to stay on-trend this season. The main thing to remember is that investing in one of these will quickly update your look, so go for whichever you think will work best with the rest of your stash.
