Autumn/ Winter hair embraces natural beauty

Catwalk hairstylist Tina Outen says Autumn/ Winter 16 hair is all about natural beauty.

The hair guru worked behind the scenes at Antonio Berardi, Paul Smith, Markus Lupfer, Fashion East and Catlin Price during London Fashion Week in September, with the models from these shows rocking everything from easy waves to chic up dos.

The Antonio Berardi show particularly embraced natural hairstyles, with the army of models sporting short and long styles, with and without fringes.

“Autumn/ Winter16 I think is still about natural beautiful hair,” Tina told Cover Media. “There's so much photographically going on with undone hair that products like Bumble and bumble Don't Blow It are key - this gives the woman who doesn't quite have good enough hair to do nothing be able to do nothing, just a good thick application and a twist left to dry naturally.”

Salt sprays and dry shampoo can also give limp hair added texture, like Fudge’s Salt Spray and Swell’s Ultimate Volume Dry Shampoo and we also love Charles Worthington’s Volume and Bounce Texturising Spray.

Jumping from one style to another is all in a day’s work for Tina and her Bumble and bumble team, and she works closely with each fashion house to ensure she’s getting their vision absolutely perfect. Each designer is specific in what they want hair to look like, so Tina makes sure she puts the time in with them before Fashion Week kicks off.

“I meet with the designers pre-show and they talk through their inspiration for their woman and the influences. A collaborative link can be seen as the seed for the idea of the hair,” she explained.

And when it comes to wearing catwalk styles in real life, Tina insists any woman can pull off runway-ready hair.

“Sure they can - it's all about confidence. If you feel you can rock it, you can rock it!” she grinned.
