A/W 15 make-up must haves

September has rolled around which means one thing for beauty lovers: new season make-up. As much fun looking to the catwalk for inspiration is, the really good bit is when companies start bringing out their Autumn/Winter collections. Summer make-up is fun after all, but in the winter it's more acceptable to go bold with eyes and lips as that look works best with winter woollies and snug coats.

One of the most eagerly-anticipated launches of the season is Urban Decay's Naked Smoky Palette, the latest instalment in the Naked series. This one has 12 shadows to help you create the perfect smoky eye, nine of which are new to the brand. Rather than just offering greys and blacks there are bronze colours, taupe and some purple in this pack, plus instructions on how to use them for daytime and evening looks.

Also going for a sultry vibe is Diego Dalla Palma, which has earth-toned shadows which can be used wet or dry again for a smoky look. Plus there's a dark brown eyeliner with a hard tip which sets like concrete and new shades of the company's famed Chubby Lip Stylo. Among them is a deep burgundy which looks set to be the shade of the season as it's everywhere. LASplash's Lip Couture in Vampire is perfect for the bold red lip trend - it is a super dark red which sets after it's applied and seriously lasts all day without reapplication.

Anyone who finds lipstick too drying should give the new Mattelustre collection from Pixi a go. The shades pack in a lot of colour - Plum Berry is right on trend - but they also have hyaluronic acid, vitamins A and C and peptides in them so your lips look full and smooth. This is a bit of a trend in itself as Pür Minerals has also gone down the moisturising route with its Lip Lure Hydrating Lip Lacquer. They're a liquid lipstick and the colour is saturated, but it doesn't feel too heavy - Mystic is a perfect autumn red.

If smoky eyeshadow isn't really your thing but you want to amp up the eye drama you can go big on the liner instead. To give this a new season twist try applying in the waterline, as seen at Roberto Cavalli, and then add a little under the lash line and smoke it out. Rodial Smokey Eye Pen comes in either black or brown, so there's one for day or night looks. The company's Glamolash Mascara XXL is good for pumped up lashes, which are another big look for the coming months. Rather than spidery lashes we're talking doll ones - so long, thick and false looking.

Also of note for eyes are the new Ingenious Liquid Eyeliners from RMK. These are for people who are bored of black liners and want to glam things up a bit, as they comes in shades like moss green, ruby red and gold.
