Ronda Rousey would tie me up in a ball, says Conor McGregor
Ahead of Ronda Rousey's UFC 190 bout with Beth Correia, Conor McGregor has his say.
Newly crowned UFC interim Featherweight Champion of the World Conor McGregor has told the media that he believes Ronda Rousey “is an absolute animal”. Speaking to Sports Illustrated ahead of UFC 190, where Rousey takes on Beth Correia in Brazil, Conor spoke of his first interaction with the fellow champion.
“I certainly would not like to end up in a tie-up with Miss Rousey! I remember one time when I'd seen her and I greeted her and I said 'what's up champ?' and we embraced. I swear on my life her back muscles were the solidest back muscles I'd ever felt in my life.
I thought if this lady was to get a hold of me she would throw me on my head in literally one second flat. So I would not like to engage in a clinch fight with Ronda.”
Rousey made her professional MMA debut 4 years ago, and maintains an unbeaten record (11-0 MMA, 5-0 UFC). This Saturday night will be her 6TH defence, and is the longest serving woman’s UFC Champion. Earlier this week, speaking ahead of the fight she stated that “After she kicks Correia’s and Miesha Tate’s ass”, she is “going to make a movie”, in relation to Mile 22 where she will co-star with film star Mark Wahlberg.
But as the world knows, McGregor is the most confident in the game, and fully believes he has what it takes to dismantle Ronda if they were “ever to fight”. He jokingly said on the matter
"But, make no mistake about it, I’d win. I have my ways to win that fight, too!"
