Conor McGregor sends internet into meltdown with 'retirement' Tweet
If his Twitter account is to be believed, the Notorious is permanently stepping away from the octagon.
McGregor's coach John Kavanagh has appeared to back up McGregor's statement of retirement:
Well was fun while it lasted— Coach Kavanagh (@John_Kavanagh) April 19, 2016
Nate Diaz has had his say on the matter - if McGregor's retirement plan was real, this may cause a swfit U-turn:
I guess my work here is done I'm retiring too✌🏼️👊🏼— Nathan Diaz (@NateDiaz209) April 19, 2016
The internet is absolutely aghast at a Tweet sent by Conor McGregor this evening, which proclaims that he has decided to "retire young".
I have decided to retire young.— Conor McGregor (@TheNotoriousMMA) April 19, 2016
Thanks for the cheese.
Catch ya's later.
The message, which does not appear on the Dubliner’s other most-viewed social media feeds, is certainly shocking if true.
The baffling Tweet, which has sparked confusion, outrage and disbelief, certainly sounds like a McGregor quote but many are unconvinced.
It seems unlikely he would step away from the sport, and the organisation, after signing up for such a lucrative fight.
Dana White might have a word or two to say about this, if it isn't the account hacking which many believe it to be.
There has so far been no other statement or sound from McGregor or his camp.
Do you think this is real? Here are some of the reactions to McGregor's 'retirement':
