Conor McGregor took some time out of his UFC 205 open workout at Madison Square Garden yesterday to shoot some hoops.

The Dublin fighter was preparing for his lightweight title fight against Eddie Alvarez with an open workout at the venue of UFC 205, Madison Square Garden.

The featherweight champion took some time from his busy schedule to play basketball at the home of the New York Knicks, where the court has yet to be transformed by the presence of the octagon.

Standing more or less on the three-point line, McGregor takes aim before sinking the ball from range - with a little help from the backboard and rim.

The Crumlin man, however, is handing his 'big ballsack' credit for landing the shot:

The Notorious will get a shot at history when he takes on lightweight champion Alvarez in New York on Saturday, with the main card starting at 3am Irish time on November 13.

A win over Alvarez will make McGregor the first man to hold two UFC belts at the same time.

After announcing the fight, Dana White confirmed that McGregor would keep his featherweight belt which he won against Jose Aldo in December 2015.

Back in March, McGregor was due to fight Rafael dos Anjos at UFC 196 but the then-champion pulled out through injury.

Alvarez then beat Dos Anjos in July to take the title.

Khabib Nurmagomedov had signed a deal to fight the champion at UFC 205 or 206 but it looks like the prospect of McGregor was too tempting for Alvarez.

Also on the card is welterweight champ Tyron Woodley taking on Stephen Thompson.
