Republic of Ireland striker Kevin Doyle has his first column in this weekend's Sunday World newspaper, as he joins us for our unrivalled coverage of Euro 2016.

Doyle was one of a handful of names left out of the final Euro 2016 squad by Ireland boss Martin O'Neill last Tuesday, with the chaotic nature of the squad selection leaving the Colorado Rapids striker a little frustrated.

“I don’t think there were any great shocks in the final panel that was confirmed just before the deadline on Tuesday, so the squad could have been announced earlier and those of us who missed out placed on standby in case of injuries,” Doyle tells us.

“Every manager does things differently, it’s a tough job that never pleases everybody and this manager sees this as a way of keeping people on their toes.”

Doyle will be writing for the Sunday World throughout Euro 2016, with sundayworld.com the best place to follow all the action on a daily basis when the tournament kicks off next Friday.

John Aldridge also features prominently in this weekend's Sunday World, as he reacts to Roy Keane's plea for Ireland striker Daryl Murphy to give our man Aldo a call as he looks to end his international goal scoring drought.

Ireland stars Shane Long and Jon Walters are interviewed ahead of the start of the Euro 2016 finals, while we also have the best GAA coverage.

Of course, this weekend's Sunday World is dominated by the passing of the great Muhammad Ali, with Roy Curtis and Jimmy Magee among those paying a fitting tribute to the greatest sportsman of them all.
